Lemarli are currently producing a range of children's books that teach children about life in the paddock. Below are the titles currently available or being produced. Click on each title for a short synopsis.


 

Bambi and the wild dogs

Born late in the season, Bambi is smaller, slower and more clumsy than the other cria. To make matters worse she has a brown patch on her leg that the other alpacas always like to remind her means she will never go to the show. But Bambi is a determined alpaca and when the children are confronted by wild dogs guess who comes to their rescue.

Jmal. The little alpaca scared of being shorn.

Every night the main herd would settle down and listen to Natalia's parables and stories about old days. Jmal loves the story of the great shearing muster and can't wait for shearing time, always asking Rushki and the other boys if they want to play the shearing game. All is going well until flippant comment by Cuchlain has him losing sleep and dreading the vent instead. Join Jmal as he faces and conquers his greatest fear in a true story of cria courage.

Natalia - an alpaca Easter story.

Natalia is a special alpaca. She is a princess from Peru and the herd leader. Respected by all, her parables have given the herd a code to live by and an invigorated energy to spread her word. But this year Easter will have a special meaning as Natalia's time comes up. The crazy adventures of Finn McCool and Cuchlain.

Two young boys born within a week of each other, in a crazy world where being a boy means you are destined to be an outcast. Their bond of friendship helps them rise above adversity as they train for the show ring and a chance to be one of the 5% of boys who gets to be a macho. Along the way they meet Legolas, the wether and surrogate parent, who teaches them compassion and manners, Mandela, who misses his mother, as well as others. Join them on their adventures as Finn gets stuck on the wrong side of the fence, Cuchlain has to leave his mother because he is making her sick, and Inca Warrior, the dominant male, tries to bite them. Throughout all this they remain fun loving, well tempered and kind to all children.

Monique and the swamphens.

Some alpacas are more inquisitive than others. Monique is even more inquisitive than them. Join Monique as she finds her way around Lemarli farm, making friends with older alpacas, children, kangaroos and of course the swamphens. But when the swamphens try and get Monique to bring them food she has to face a difficult life lesson about who your real friends are and who is taking advantage of that friendship.

The Dead Baby Alpaca goes to VCAT.

The Shire wants to close Lemarli farm and split up the herd. It's a crisis for Farmer Leanne and Farmer Carl as well as a crisis for the herd. With ignorant comments being made about alpacas by the Shire, and the threat of a $6000 a day farm, the alpacas are looking for a hero to justify their existence. Sometimes the most unlikely are thrust into heroism and they don't come anymore unlikely as the Dead Baby Alpaca. Concetta Comes Second .

Everyone loves a winner and no one can not be proud of Concetta. She works hard to prepare for the show and when she gets a ribbon, she is so grateful and excited. Who can not be touched by the humility of an alpaca who is so pleased with what she got and not worried about what she has not.
